CANNES: Swedish OTT platform Magine TV is set to enter the Asian mobile TV market via a pact with Thai cable network CTH.

Through the partnership, Magine TV will power CTH’s OTT offering on its cloud service, allowing for the distribution of CTH’s entertainment and sports channel packages across all mobile devices and screens. The deal is slated to bring greater access to premium content such as the Barclays Premier League across Thailand, via live streaming as well as through catch-up.

Ambuj Goyal, the CEO of Magine TV, commented: “Magine TV is delighted to enter into a significant partnership with such an established broadcaster as CTH; this is a major step for Magine, and marks our first move into the Asian market. Live sports events such as Premier League football matches are integral to CTH’s offering, and create a huge demand on OTT platforms in terms of the number of users streaming concurrently. Picture quality and low latency are features that Magine TV has developed to cope with such demand, and we are confident that in these areas we can offer CTH and other broadcasters an unparalleled service, as demonstrated through Magine TV’s service in Germany throughout FIFA World Cup in 2014.”

Amarit Sukhavanij, the CEO of CTH, added: “We are delighted to partner with Magine, a truly best in class in the OTT space, to move CTH into an area of offering which is becoming more and more relevant in Thailand. The significance of this alliance cannot be overstated because the demands of being a pay TV/broadcaster requires a constant need to innovate our business, our offering, and who we are, to ensure that our subscribers are connected to the best there is. This relationship with Magine allows us to address these objectives. We look forward to developing our relationship with Magine towards greater viewer experience for our business and subscribers.”
