Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) announced several new initiatives to strengthen the local media ecosystem on the opening day of ATF Online+.

The programs were unveiled by S Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information, as the event kicked off today.

The Capability Partnership Programme aims to bring “Made-with-Singapore” content to an international stage via international partnerships. IMDA announced two new partnerships, with Audible and KC Global Media Singapore, which join existing partners such as ViacomCBS, CJ ENM HK and WarnerMedia.

The Capability Partnership Programme collaborations are expected to benefit nearly 90 local media companies and over 700 media professionals in 2021 through job creation and opportunities for skills development.

Iswaran also announced that the S$8 million Public Service Content (PSC) Fund is financing 78 new commissions. The fund was launched earlier this year in partnership with Mediacorp, Singapore Press Holdings and Viddsee to foster the development of short-form digital content.

“I am heartened to see our companies and talent forging ahead to find new ways to share our Asian stories,” said Lew Chuen Hong, chief executive of the IMDA. “Thank you for bringing us respite with these amazing stories, reimagined for an unprecedented time. The resilience and ingenuity demonstrated by the media industry throughout this period is a story waiting to be told, to inspire future generations of storytellers.”
