Head of KBS to Be Honored with International Emmy Directorate Award

NEW YORK: Dr. Kim In-Kyu, the president and CEO of Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and the president of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), will be presented with the 2012 International Emmy Directorate Award.

Dr. Kim will accept the award at the 40th International Emmy Awards, set to take place November 19 in New York City. Dr. Kim started his career at KBS in 1973, rising through the ranks in various roles such as managing director of new media and executive director of news and current affairs. He became president and CEO of KBS in November 2009. He was named president of ABU in 2011 for a three-year term.

"KBS is one of the great television services in the world and Dr. Kim, one of the leading media figures in Asia," said Bruce L. Paisner, the president and CEO of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. "We are looking forward to presenting him with the Directorate Award as he embarks on celebrating his 40th anniversary at the service of KBS."

Dr. Kim commented, "KBS, as the key public service broadcaster of Korea, has been striving to achieve the goal of fair and distinctive broadcasting for the benefit of the public. On behalf of KBS, I humbly accept this honor."
