SYDNEY: Gina Rinehart has resigned from the board of Ten Network, with John Klepec taking her place as a director.

Rinehart, who is said to be Australia's richest woman, has been expanding her responsibilities in the Hancock Prospecting group, in particular, the financing and development of The Roy Hill Project, which is currently one of the largest construction undertakings in mainland Australia. Rinehart has been serving as director of the company since 2010.

Hamish McLennan, the executive chairman and managing director of Ten, commented: “It has been a very great pleasure working with Mrs. Rinehart and I have appreciated her commitment and our discussions. I look forward to her ongoing involvement.”

Klepec has been appointed director. He is the chief development officer of Hancock Prospecting and has been Rinehart's alternate director on the Ten board since October 2013.
