HONG KONG: FOX International Channels (FIC) has acquired the exclusive pay-TV rights to air the late-night talk show Conan in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

Conan will be broadcast in those countries on FX within 36 hours after its U.S. broadcast. FIC intends to position Conan as a tent-pole on FX, where the show will launch May 6. The talk show will air Wednesdays through Saturdays at 11 p.m. on the channel. Subtitles will be available in Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia for the first airing, with the addition of Bahasa Indonesia and Thai when the episodes are repeated on the weekend.

Brian Lau, the senior VP of content and communications at FIC, said, “Conan is a great fit for FX’s roster of edgy, critically acclaimed shows and films. Besides being a highly experienced and lauded host, Conan O’Brien is beloved for his eccentricity and humor, and we are proud to be the first to bring his fun, offbeat brand to viewers across Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.”

“It is always rewarding when we can connect someone as extraordinary as Conan with millions of fans in new markets,” said Daniel March, the managing partner at Dynamic Television. “For the first time Conan will be accessible on television in these critical territories and we are thankful to FOX International Channels for their commitment in the show.”
