NEW YORK: AMC/Sundance Channel Global has secured additional carriage for Sundance Channel and WE tv in Asia, along with bulking up the channels’ programming slates.

In South Korea, Sundance Channel is set for SK broadband as a 24-hour HD linear IPTV service with Korean subtitles. This is the third major platform in South Korea to carry the channel. In Taiwan, WE tv is headed to Vee Time’s IPTV platform Vee TV, airing as a 24-hour HD/SD linear channel with Mandarin subtitles. This is the third platform in Taiwan to operate the WE tv service.

In the way of fresh programming, Sundance Channel gained season two of Hell on Wheels, as well as The Hour and a collection of films from Miramax. The Miramax package includes such titles as Cold Mountain, Good Will Hunting and Chocolat. The channel also greenlit original coverage blocks for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival in France and the Busan Film Festival in Korea. The fourth season of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover has been picked up for WE tv.

Bruce Tuchman, AMC/Sundance Channel Global’s president, said, “It is thrilling to expand our carriage in South Korea and Taiwan—high-growth markets critical not only to the value of our business in Asia but throughout the globe as well.” He added, “We look forward to bringing more universally acclaimed, hit and premiere content to existing partners and new clients while also giving them the opportunity to optimize programming for multiplatform distribution.”
