Cheryl Boone Isaacs to Speak at ScreenSingapore 2015

SINGAPORE: At next month’s ScreenSingapore, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is slated to deliver the closing keynote speech.

In her Marketing and Distribution in a Global Context keynote on December 4, Boone Isaacs will lead a one-on-one dialogue on the changing landscape of marketing and distribution in independent films, and what Asian filmmakers need to know in order to succeed in festivals and land Academy Award nominations. She has worked for such Hollywood studios as Paramount and New Line Cinema, where she coordinated the marketing campaigns for Oscar winners Forrest Gump and Braveheart.

Other speakers lined up for ScreenSingapore are Dhruv S Sinha, the general manager for Hollywood and overseas business at Reliance Entertainment & Phantom Films, and Benjamin Illos, programmer for Cannes Film Festival – Director’s Fortnight. The pair will discuss the complicated world of film distribution, while teaching participants how to engage distributors and festival organizers during the panel session Understanding Distribution and Festivals: Achieving Critical Acclaim and Commercial Rewards.

In addition, Zainir Aminullah, the chief executive producer at Ideate Media; Sridhar Sreekakula, the CEO of Barking Cow Media Group; and Allen Jordan, the CEO of Goshen Group will examine the trends and future of film funding. Producers in attendance will also learn about the basic pitch dynamics, creative financing strategy and what film financiers are looking for from such experts as Chieko Murata, the VP of local productions in Japan and Southeast Asia for International Film & Television at Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Samuel Y. Ha, the VP of global investment at Union Investment Partners during the Meet the Financiers panel session.
