HONG KONG: Rupi Sagoo has been appointed as the director of content sales and distribution for Japan and Korea at Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE).

In her new role, Sagoo will work out of Hong Kong under Wendy Reeds, the company’s executive VP of content sales and distribution. She will be charged with driving the distribution of Lionsgate’s television content as well as Lionsgate’s feature film library, which includes Summit Entertainment’s film portfolio, and the Miramax Films library to Japan and Korea. Jenny Suen, who holds the same title as Sagoo, will continue to manage CTE’s content distribution in Greater China and Southeast Asia.

In the past, Sagoo served as the VP of sales practice management at HSBC. Before that she was the director of programming and acquisition for FX and Fox Crime at Fox International Channels (FIC) and the senior programming planning manager in the central programming division of Viasat Broadcasting.

Reeds commented: "We are really glad to have Rupi join the team. With her wide-ranging industry experience, great instincts and proven past successes, she’s the ideal candidate to grow our ever-expanding content distribution business."

Sagoo added: "It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Celestial Tiger Entertainment and to represent Lionsgate’s award-winning TV series and fantastic library. Lionsgate has become one of the most commercially exciting studios in Hollywood and I look forward to extending the studio’s television and digital distribution into Japan and Korea."
