HONG KONG: Annie Yim, a former Sony Pictures Television executive, has been tapped to lead the distribution efforts for Celestial Pictures’ content portfolio, which includes the Shaw Brothers film library, in Greater China.

Yim will be responsible for the Shaw Brothers library as well as new Celestial Pictures content across multiple platforms in the Greater China region. Yim joins Celestial after a long career at Sony Pictures Television (SPT). In 2007, Yim took on the role of executive director of licensing for Greater China at SPT. After that, Yim led SPT’s distribution business in Southeast Asia.

Peter Poon, the senior VP of distribution, is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Ross Pollack, the CEO of Celestial Pictures,  said of his departure, “We are grateful for Peter’s contributions during his tenure with Celestial and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Pollack added of Yim’s appointment, “It’s great to have Annie on board with us. Her strong work ethic, media experience and in-depth knowledge of the China market will further extend the reach of the full range of Celestial Pictures’ content beyond existing distribution channels in the Greater China region. With Greater China’s booming digital market, there are even more opportunities for Celestial’s extensive content.”

Yim said, “I’m very excited to join Celestial Pictures. We have an incredible content portfolio that is perfectly suited for China’s growing number of traditional and emerging media platforms. I look forward to growing Celestial Pictures’ licensing business across Greater China.”
