APOS Unveils Speaker Lineup

HONG KONG/SINGAPORE: Disney’s Andy Bird, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, YouTube’s Robert Kyncl, Viacom’s Bob Bakish, Turner’s Gerhard Zeiler and the heads of several AsiaPac media groups, telcos and pay-TV platforms are among the speakers lined up for APOS in Bali this April.

Set for April 25 to 27 in Bali, Indonesia, APOS 2017 has convened a speaker lineup from all segments of the media ecosystem, featuring a mix of global heavyweights and dominant local operators.

The initial speaker list includes Viacom’s president and CEO, Bob Bakish; Andy Bird, president of international at Disney; Turner’s president of international, Gerhard Zeiler; Fox Networks Group’s president and COO of the digital consumer group, Brian Sullivan; and Jay Rosenstock, president of Viceland International and chief corporate development officer at VICE Media. The lineup also includes Tim Davie, CEO of BBC Worldwide; Peter Tonagh, the new CEO of Foxtel; Sky’s group COO, Andrew Griffith; and Optus CEO Allan Lew.

Digital media giants will also have a presence on the speaker lineup, with Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos; YouTube’s chief business officer, Robert Kyncl; and Amazon’s head of AsiaPac content, James Farrell. iflix’s co-founder and CEO, Mark Britt, will also be speaking at APOS this year as the OTT platform continues its regional expansion.

Asian telcos and pay-TV platforms are also on the agenda, with Jane Jimenez-Basas, the president and CEO of Cignal TV; Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe Telecom; PCCW’s managing director, Janice Lee; and Alexander Rusli, president director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo.

APOS has also lined up Zhang Wei, the president and director of Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group, which operates the BesTV Chinese IPTV platform; and Donald Tang, the founder and managing partner of Tang Media Partners, which bought a majority stake in IM Global last year.

The other confirmed speakers are Sang Gill (Tschaik) Lee, executive VP and chief strategy officer at CJ E&M; Amit Goenka, CEO of the international broadcast business at Essel Group; Anuj Gandhi, group CEO of IndiaCast; and Scott Spirit, chief strategy and digital officer at WPP. Further speakers will be announced following the Chinese New Year holiday.

The conference agenda will explore the role of telcos in the online video space and the SVOD market; the next phase of growth for internet TV platforms; the evolving equation for investors; the role of aggregators; the importance of social media; the future of the video ad market and the changing sports rights landscape. There will also be market spotlights on Australia, China, India, Korea, Southeast Asia, the U.K. and Europe and the U.S.
