Two projects from Singapore and one from Malaysia have been named the winners of the regional short film competition inspired by the HBO Asia Original series Invisible Stories.

The panel of judges, including Invisible Stories director Ler Jiyuan, selected the three winning entries from more than 300 short film submissions. Washed Off, from Singapore’s Ansen Goh, follows two foreign workers from Bangladesh who moonlight washing cars; while Hello Uncle, from Singapore’s Sabrina Poon, centers on an isolated old man who starts hearing strange noises following a visit from a schoolboy. Malaysia’s Ibtisem Ben Nassib’s short, Ali, sees the titular character leave Syria for a better life only to find himself in even more dire circumstances.

The Invisible Stories competition marks the first time HBO has organized a short film competition to invite emerging filmmakers to submit untold stories from their own neighborhoods. All three winning entries can be streamed for free on HBO Go. The six episodes of the HBO Asia Original series Invisible Stories can also be streamed on the platform.

Further, WarnerMedia is currently running a Westworld contest and a Watch and Win contest on Oh!K for viewers, in which prizes include a year’s subscription to HBO Go and a trip to South Korea, respectively.
