SINGAPORE: BBC World News HD has secured carriage on TrueVisions in Thailand and Indonesia's First Media and Big TV.

In Thailand, the channel has made the permanent move from SD to HD, and will be available via TrueVisions' TV Everywhere service when it launches next year.

On First Media, the HD feed joins an existing SD version of the channel. It will also be made available on that platform's TV Anywhere service next month. Big TV, launching November 1, has signed up for both SD and HD versions of the news network.

"We are excited to be able to extend our relationship with both TrueVisions, First Media and Big TV to launch BBC World News HD and expand our reach and impact in these territories," said Colin Lawrence, distribution director of BBC Global News. "These partnerships are an essential part of our ongoing commitment to Asian audiences to bring them the highest quality global news service. Our investment goes beyond HD however, with our new weekly business show Talking Business with Linda Yueh and the revised Asia Edition of bbc.com/news."

"We have a strong commitment to the region, to bring quality content to our Asian audience," added Mark Whitehead, senior VP and general manager and channels lead at BBC Worldwide Asia. "The deals with TrueVisions, Big TV and First Media are part of this commitment. With the addition of BBC World News HD, the entire suite of BBC channels is now available in Indonesia and Thailand."
