CANNES: While the Asian Food Channel has been present for some time, Scripps Networks International is working to introduce Food Network Asia and Travel Channel to the pan-regional and local markets in the Asia Pacific.

Developing more local programming is part of the company’s plans as well. “It’s always important for us to continue adding locally produced original content and regional talent to the programming mix,” says Derek Chang, Scripps’ managing director for the Asia Pacific. “Going forward this will be a core element of our strategy.” The Asian Food Channel has several new original productions slated for this year, including Back to the Streets 2 and A Party Affair. Food Network Asia released two Asia-based series since its launch, A Culinary Coup: The Launch of KU DÉ TA and Mobile Chef.
