TV-Loonland Secures CBBC Slot for Leon

CANNES, October 14: Leon,
TV-Loonland’s latest CGI series, has been presold to CBBC, which has also
signed up for the catch-up rights to the 52×3-minute series.

The show, a co-production of TV-Loonland, Studio Hari and
France 3, premiered at MIPCOM Junior over the weekend and will be ready for
delivery by Christmas. TV-Loonland holds all worldwide rights.

This is the second Studio Hari show set to air on the BBC,
following its pickup of The Owl, which
is on the air in more than 180 countries. Leon tells the tale of the world’s unluckiest lion.

Jesse Cleverly, the head of acquisitions and original
animation at CBBC, noted: "We are so delighted to be working with
TV-Loonland and Studio Hari again after our fantastic experience with The
Owl
. Leon is already shaping up to be a
floppy fringed favorite with our audience who will love the combination of a
great character and brilliantly judged physical comedy."

Justine Bannister, the head of distribution at TV-Loonland,
added: “Studio Hari have gone and done it again! Leon is pure animated genius. We have really enjoyed
working with CBBC on The Owl and
delighted that they have committed to Leon at such an early stage of development. Leon is both a strong and very complementary addition to
the ever-increasing slate of renowned children’s and youth titles which
TV-Loonland is presenting at the market. With CBBC being the first out of the
starting blocks to acquire the show, we couldn’t have hoped for a more perfect
launch platform for Leon in terms
of TV exposure worldwide.”
