TV-Loonland Scores Asian Slots

MUNICH/LONDON: TV-Loonland has landed a number of deals across Asia for shows such as Leon and Pat & Stan.

Disney Japan went for the 52×3-minute Leon, while Cartoon Network Japan took on the 78×7-minute Raymond. Nickelodeon Asia picked up 39 seven-minute episodes of Pat & Stan, as well as a 30-minute special and 350 shorts for the series. EBS picked up the rights for South Korea on Pat & Stan, while ongoing discussions for DVD rights are well under way.

Further deals closed this summer include ATV Hong Kong picking up Little Princess seasonal specials for fall and winter, and Well Go USA taking on pay-TV rights for Rainbow Fish in Taiwan.

TV-Loonland’s head of international distribution, Justine Bannister, said: “Amongst the most elusive of markets for European animation, we are especially proud that our shows will be enjoyed by kids (and adults) in Asian countries. These acquisitions are testimony once again to the quality and universal appeal of our programming lineup. As with other territories worldwide, the quality and reach of these particular TV placements for our shows will be absolutely key in ensuring their longevity in Asia. From these initial deals we are already in discussion to secure DVD and licensing partners in the coming months.”
