TV Icon Norman Lear to Deliver NATPE Opening Keynote

LOS ANGELES: Norman Lear, whose prolific TV writing and producing career includes the iconic series All in the Family and hits such as Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons, is lined up as the opening keynote of NATPE.

Lear, who is now 92, will deliver his keynote on January 20, 2015. He began his TV writing career in 1950. His work also includes Maude, Good Times, One Day at a Time and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.

“It is nearly impossible to describe Norman’s impact in terms of both creative television hits and catalyzing the national narrative about otherwise untouchable subjects,” said Rod Perth, the president and CEO of NATPE. “For those of us who were in the business or just television viewers, his ability to combine humor and make all of us reexamine our own values, was without equal. He is very simply an American treasure and we are incredibly proud to have him as our keynote.”
