TV Globo Finalizes French IPTV Deal

SÃO PAULO, April 4: TV Globo has closed a deal with IPTV operator Neuf Cegetel to distribute its international channel in France.

Under the new deal, users will be able to view the subscription channel TV Globo International via a set-top box. The channel is also currently available in France via satellite.

Through the month of April, Neuf Cegetel subscribers will have free access to TV Globo International. As of May, the channel will assume its premium status.

Launched in 1999, TV Globo International currently has more than 483 thousand premium subscribers worldwide, spread over 114 countries, including the U.S., Japan, Australia, Portugal, Angola, Canada, England, Germany, Argentina, Mexico and Chile. The channel’s programming includes the best of Brazilian dramas, interview shows, documentaries, news, sports, kids’ shows, music and comedy shows.

“Our partnership with Neuf Cegetel is very important to us, opening more distribution platforms for our channel in France, where, aside from the great number of Brazilians, there is also a huge Portuguese community,” stated Marcelo Spinola, the director of international distribution for TV Globo. “This, undoubtedly, will be an excellent alternative for our potential subscribers.”
