LONDON: Turner Broadcasting is set to launch an HD simulcast of Cartoon Network on Sky, available in September, coinciding with the channel’s 17th birthday.

Series such as Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Regular Show, Adventure Time and Star Wars: the Clone Wars will be available in HD, following the launch. The Amazing World of Gumball, an animated sitcom that uses a combination of 2D and 3D animation with live-action backgrounds, will also air in HD.

New shows also debuting as part of Cartoon Network’s September slate include an all-new version of the ’80s series Thundercats, and new action-adventure series, including Transformers Prime, Battle Force 5 and Bakugan Gundalian Invaders.

The Amazing World of Gumball is a truly unique and visually groundbreaking series which blends 2D, 3D and live action and it demands to be seen in its original breathtaking HD format,” said Anthony Lukom, the VP and general manager of U.K. and Ireland at Turner Broadcasting. “We’re thrilled that that this series and many more will be available in HD from this coming September.”
