LONDON: Rani Raad, who currently manages Turner Broadcasting’s operations in Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, is to take on the role of executive VP and chief commercial officer for CNN International.

Raad will be in charge of leading the commercial strategy and vision of CNN International, including oversight for the ad sales, content sales, business development, international research and marketing activities. He will hold a duel remit as the senior VP and managing director of CNN International ad sales and senior VP for Turkey, the Middle East and Africa.

The appointment follows a decision to align all of CNN’s international activity into one organization.

Gerhard Zeiler, the president of Turner Broadcasting System International, said: “We are simplifying the organization and establishing clear responsibilities. Rani is the logical choice for this ambitious challenge due to his track record leading CNN’s global commercial initiatives and his vast international network.”

Raad added: “Aligning the commercial streams for the world’s leading international news brand will help us deliver best-in-class solutions for our partners across all the diverse platforms where CNN has become a valued and ubiquitous presence.”
