LONDON: ShortsTV, the first HD channel dedicated to short-form movies, has been added to Romtelecom affiliates in Romania as well as to Wananchi’s Zuku satellite platform in Eastern Africa.

The HD entertainment channel, founded by Shorts International, has a companion VOD service, all dedicated to the genre of short movies. It is broadcasting 24 hours a day with thematic blocks. In Africa, it will be featured in its original English-language format, while offerings will be subtitled in Romania. The service is already available to more than 8 million homes on UPC in the Netherlands, in Belgium on Telenet, in Turkey on TTNet and on Numericable’s French-language cable service in France, Belgium and Luxembourg. In the U.S., ShortsHD is available to more than 20 million homes through AT&T and DIRECTV.

“The concurrent launch of ShortsTV in Romania and across East Africa is incredibly exciting. We are bringing the channel into Africa with Wananchi as a key partner, just as they are additionally expanding into new markets,” said Carter Pilcher, ShortsTV’s CEO. “In Romania, our movies are a wonderful fit for Romtelecom and its successful modern digital multi-video services.”
