Travel Channel Searches for America’s Worst Driver

LOS ANGELES: A. Smith & Co. Productions and Mentorn USA are starting production on The Streets of America: The Search for America’s Worst Driver for Travel Channel.

Based on Mentorn’s successful international format, The Search for America’s Worst Driver is a competition elimination series of driving challenges designed to weed out a city’s worst driver. A. Smith & Co. founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed will executive produce the show, along with A. Smith’s Frank Sinton, Rick Tellis, as well as David Leach and Dan Goldsack of Mentorn USA. The Streets of America: The Search for America’s Worst Driver is slated to air first quarter of 2010 on Travel Channel.

"We are thrilled to bring this international hit to the Travel Channel," said Michael Klein, the senior VP of content at Travel Channel. "The combination of A. Smith & Co.’s unparalleled track record with Mentorn USA’s hit format, make The Streets of America one of the most anticipated new series for 2010. We at the Travel Channel celebrate every aspect of travel and know that exploring a city by car is one of the most universal experiences. We look forward to exposing the best, and sometimes the worst, a city has to offer from the view of the driver’s seat."

"We’re really excited about the potential fan base for this show," said Smith. "There are so many elements our viewers can relate to and it’s a great way to experience America. Plus we know how entertaining it will be to watch as the contestants try to navigate through Los Angeles, the home to the country’s busiest freeway interchange, or drive down San Francisco’s Lombard Street."
