TPI to Bring Emeralds Doc, Bali Bombing Feature to MIPTV

CHANTILLY, April 9: TPI will bring its new 50-minute special
The Emerald Empire: Land of Hope and Shadows, along with the feature film Long Road to Heaven, which was banned in Bali, to MIPTV this month.

The Emerald Empire takes
viewers to the remote regions in the Andes Mountains of Colombia, an area that
produces the finest emeralds in the world. The special reveals that the region
is also the scene of a long-running struggle for power and influence between
mine owners, poor laborers, government officials and drug traffickers.

Filmed in English and Indonesian, Long Road to Heaven revisits the tragedy of the terrorist bombings that
rocked the island of Bali in October 2002 and left 202 people dead. The film reveals
four dramatic stories, from the planning and execution of the bombing to an
American girl helping in the recovery efforts to an Australian journalist
covering the trial of the terrorists seven months after the attack. The film,
which was released nationally in Indonesia in January, was banned in Bali, with
authorities saying the film is too powerful and might stir up trouble. The film
cannot be shown in Bali’s cinemas and the sale of DVDs of the film is also
prohibited.
