Top Chef Gets Mideast Treatment

BEIRUT: The pan-Arab network LBC SAT has picked up the formats Top Chef and A Star’s Life in Lyrics to launch Arabic-language versions later this year.

The reality competition Top Chef watches chefs compete against each other in culinary challenges. They are then judged by a panel of professional chefs and other luminaries from the food industry, with a contestant eliminated in each episode. The format was picked up from NBC Universal International.

LBC SAT also picked up the format A Star’s Life in Lyrics. The program was originally done by France 2. The concept of the show is to host Arab celebrities that will reveal themselves through songs and lyrics they like.

The network has already successfully adapted the format Celebrity Duets, which will be renewed for a second season. LBC SAT will also be airing the reality show Star Academy in its eighth season.
