TiVo Loss Widens

ALVISO, August 30: TiVo’s net loss for the second quarter
has widened to $17.7 million, in large part due to an $11.2 million write-down
on standard-definition product inventory.

The DVR provider reported total revenues of $62.7 million, a
6 percent gain. Service revenues rose to $53.4 million, while technology and
hardware revenues were both down, to $3.1 million and $6.2 million,
respectively.

Announcing the results, TiVo CEO Tom Rogers noted: "We
made significant progress over the past six months on several areas of our
business that we believe will positively impact the growth prospects of TiVo.
During the quarter, we rolled out a new popularly priced TiVo HD box. In
addition, our TiVo on Comcast service is progressing well and importantly,
Comcast has agreed to fund substantial development work to bring the TiVo
service on Comcast to additional platforms, including Scientific Atlanta
set-top boxes."

TiVo-owned subscription gross additions for the second
quarter were 41,000, compared to 74,000 gross additions for the year-ago
period. Overall, TiVo-owned subscriptions totaled 1.71 million, up 136,000 on
the year ago-period. Cumulative total subscriptions as of July 31, 2007, were
4.2 million, with a monthly churn rate of 1.2 percent.
