Time Warner Cable, Univision Sign World Cup On Demand Deal

NEW YORK: Univision, which has the U.S. Spanish-language rights to the World Cup, has inked a deal to offer all 64 games on demand via Time Warner Cable.

The games will be available 24 hours after broadcast on Lo Mejor On Demand (LMOD), Time Warner digital cable’s first Hispanic free on demand channel, carried in Los Angeles, San Diego, Texas, New York City, the Carolinas and the North East regions. All 64 games will be carried on demand for a month after the final match. Additional programming on LMOD includes popular Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision programs like El Show de Cristina, Escandalo TV, Sabado Gigante and Don Francisco Presenta.

The U.S. Hispanic broadcaster also announced the launch of a new soccer site, www.UnivisionFutbol.com, which will deliver live online streaming of all 64 World Cup games. “As an official FIFA partner with exclusive Spanish-language rights to stream all World Cup games, we are delivering on our commitment to offering an unparalleled interactive sports experience,” said Kevin Conroy, president of Univision Interactive Media. “Our aim is to make our soccer and sports sites the top destinations for Hispanic sports fans no matter what device they are using by offering them the best coverage, content and stats within a community-oriented environment that allows them to share their passion with each other.”
