NEW YORK: Time Warner Cable’s TWCable TV app for the Apple iPad allows video customers to stream live linear television to their tablet device at no additional charge.

Time Warner customers that are part of the Standard (Expanded Basic) and higher video membership with Roadrunner or Earthlink Cable Internet can now use their iPad to watch many of the most popular shows airing on channels to which they already subscribe. Customers can use their iPad to watch shows in HD anywhere in their own home, with the aid of a mini-guide within their wireless home network. Additional services, including remote control functionality, VOD viewing capability and the ability to manage their DVR will be added on a continuing basis.

“We are tremendously excited about this app, which is the first of many that will allow our customers to harness the power of their tablet-type devices. No other cable company has done this, and we are thrilled to be the first,” said Rob Marcus, the president and COO for Time Warner Cable. “Helping our customers see the content they’re paying for on multiple devices makes their Time Warner Cable subscription even more valuable, and they can expect much more from us in this space very soon.”
