Three in a Bed Gets Second Season on Channel 4

LONDON: The Studio Lambert format Three in a Bed has been re-commissioned by Channel 4, which has also ordered a stripped daytime version called Four in a Bed.

Distributed by ALL3MEDIA International, the show has been sold into a number of international territories and is already in preproduction in the U.S. and Europe. Three in a Bed is a weekly hour-long series that watches three owners of small privately owned hotels, or bed & breakfast inns, take turns staying with each other and rating the service they each provide. In addition to a new season of the prime-time series, Channel 4 has ordered a stripped daytime version featuring four owners of small hotels. The half-hour episodes see one of the four owners host the other three. The fifth episode of the week will reveal what each is prepared to pay for their stay, and the owners with the highest percentage of their bill paid win the competition.

“The small family hotel or bed & breakfast is the most domestic form of business, which means peer review is very emotionally charged as it questions the owners’ values and taste,” said Stephen Lambert, the chief executive of Studio Lambert. “We think this is why the format has connected with a wide audience.”
