Third Installment of Booky Movies Planned

TORONTO, April 24: Platt
Productions and Shaftesbury Films have teamed up again to produce Booky’s
Crush
, the third TV movie in a
series of specials for CBC, to air in February 2009.

The two-hour program is
based on a set of books by Bernice Thurman Hunter and
is set in 1930s Toronto. In the latest chapter, Booky falls for a new friend of
her brother’s, a handsome but mischievous boy who seems to like her. Booky's
Crush
follows two previous titles, Booky
Makes Her Mark
and Booky and the Secret
Santa
.

"I'm
delighted by the CBC's ongoing support for the Booky movies,” said Phyllis Platt, the
president of Platt Productions. “Booky's Crush is sweet, funny and fun, and a great
way for families to learn about a time in our past when we all had to pull
together to find the love and connection it takes to survive tough times."

“We’re thrilled by the
response from Canadian audiences to the Booky films,” said Christina
Jennings, the chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury Films. “We’re excited to have
the winning production team behind the first two movies on-board to bring Booky
back for everyone to enjoy.”
