The LifeStyle Channel Signs Aussie Cricket Icon for Series

SYDNEY: XYZnetworks’ The LifeStyle Channel has signed Matthew Hayden, who retired from the Australian cricket team earlier this year, for a new six-part series, to debut in mid-2010.

Matthew Hayden’s Home Ground will spotlight the cricketing legend’s family, love of the outdoors and food in each hour-long episode. Hayden is on a quest to achieve a more self-sufficient, sustainable lifestyle and this series follows him as he discovers what best to grow and graze in order to live the good life. Matthew Hayden’s Home Ground is being produced by The LifeStyle Channel and will premiere on the channel in mid 2010.

“The LifeStyle Channel is home to great Australian lifestyle productions and we’re thrilled to have Matthew Hayden on our team for this series,” said Nicole Sheffield, the general manager for The LifeStyle channel.

“After years of cricket, touring, training and team-work, I’ve decided to focus on some of my other passions and dedicate some time and energy to my little corner of the world,” said Hayden. “The farmer in me wants to reconnect with the land, the cook wants to grow his own veggies and the dad wants his kids to know where their food comes from. Like a lot of people, I just want to do things a little bit better.”
