TF1 Secures Football Rights through 2014

PARIS: TF1 has been granted the exclusive broadcast rights for the matches of France’s national football team from the Federal Council of the French Football Federation (FFF) for the next four seasons.

The deal, which includes friendlies and international games, takes effect August 2010 until June 2014. TF1 takes extended rights, notably on the Internet, and also may broadcast images of the national team in its Sunday TV football magazine Téléfoot. TF1 will pay an annual lump sum for the next four years that will factor in the scheduling of matches and the “extraterritorial” rights that the FFF may acquire.

Nonce Paolini, the chairman and CEO of TF1, said: “This is excellent news for TF1, which has long been a faithful partner to the FFF. With this agreement, TF1 remains the event channel and pursues its 360-degree strategy by bringing its viewers a comprehensive football offering on all screens!”
