PARIS: TF1 has firmed up an agreement with Sony Pictures Television for the studio’s series, TV movies and feature films to air across the French group’s channels.

The deal also covers rights for new-media distribution. Through this agreement, films such as Salt, The Social Network, as well as the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man and Tintin, become part of the TF1 programming lineup. TV assets include Charlie’s Angels and The Young & The Restless.

Benoît Louvet, the executive VP of acquisitions and distribution for the TF1 Group, said: “TF1 is pleased to be broadening its studio portfolio with Sony Pictures Television Distribution. With this agreement, the TF1 Group is confirming its standing as a leading player for U.S. studios and its ability to offer powerful and targeted exposure for productions from major studios, by relying on all the group’s channels. The partnership with Sony Pictures Television Distribution will allow us to diversify and broaden our offer of series, TV films and feature films. We will also be able in the very near future to bring French viewers the series that made the event at the latest Los Angeles Screenings. In terms of cinema, we will be enhancing TF1 programming with major productions, including Salt and, soon, The Amazing Spider‐Man and Tintin.”

Noémie Weisse, the business development director and head of the Paris office of Sony Pictures Television Distribution, added: “We’re thrilled to partner with TF1 again on such a major scale. We have a very strong television slate to offer TF1 schedulers, including several high-profile network series such as Charlie’s Angels. We look forward to TF1 bringing our television hits to French audiences over the coming years, alongside our studio movie franchises and the well-established The Young & The Restless.”
