Ten Unveils New Digital Strategy

SYDNEY, December 6: Australia’s Network Ten has released
plans for its new digital strategy, which formally kicks off in February with
the relaunch of the commercial broadcaster’s website to focus on video
streaming and downloads.

The new www.ten.com.au
will also look to develop communities around the network’s key brands. The site
will be supported by more than 50 program sites and relevant online
communities, with versions of some programs for portable and mobile devices, as
well as for broadband users.

“Our audience has shown us the way,” said TEN’s CEO, Grant Blackley.
“They want and expect to experience our unique TV brands where and when they
want them. They're passionate about our content and demand deeper engagement
and the chance to interact with
our personalities and the community. TEN is empowering them to do so.”

Damian Smith, TEN's GM of digital media, added,
"Essentially, it's TV on the internet. "We're taking great broadcast
brands and making them available in the right new way for an audience that was
'born digital'".

The move follows successful digital initiatives such as the
recent free, advertiser-supported downloads of scenarios from Thank God

. In addition, nearly 20 percent
of the page views to the Australian Idol site this year have been video streaming, with more than 2.5 million
streams in total.
