Telemundo & SBS Renew Distribution Deal

MIAMI: Telemundo Internacional has renewed its agreement with SBS International, allowing it to continue to distribute part of the Korean network’s drama series catalogue in Latin America.

Included in the agreement are SBS’ telenovelas Stairway to Heaven and My Husband’s Lover. Stairway to Heaven became a hit in Latin America, including Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras, Uruguay and Bolivia. In Ecuador, the show’s second- and first-runs surpassed the 40-percent share mark.

Yun Jeung Jo, the president and CEO of SBS’s international division, said: "We’re very pleased to have our agreement renewed and to keep working on our commercial relationship with one of the most important distribution companies in the world, which will be a key factor as we position our products in Latin America. We’ve been pleased with the result and hopefully we will expand our program lineup with this new relationship."

Xavier Aristimuño, Telemundo Internacional’s senior VP of sales and business development in Asia, commented: “Throughout the years we have developed an excellent relationship with SBS International. We joined efforts a few years ago to promote successful quality TV content from SBS Korea in Spanish-speaking countries and today we renew this commitment with the same enthusiasm and with unprecedented business results in Latin America.”
