Telemundo Posts Strong Ratings for Novela Premiere

MIAMI, June 19: Telemundo
Communications Group revealed that Monday’s debut of the telenovela Sin senos
no hay paraíso
drew 749,000 adults
aged 18 to 49, ranking as the night’s highest-rated premiere in the Nielsen
Television Index (NTI) for the 10 p.m. time slot.

The rollout of Sin
senos no hay paraíso
also became
the U.S. Hispanic network’s third-highest novela premiere in the NTI, behind Tierra
de pasiones
and Victoria.

Sin senos no hay
paraíso
also increased the May
2008 NSI (Nielsen Station Index) ratings locally for adults aged 18 to 49 in
markets like Los Angeles (1.3), up 30 percent; New York (2.0), up 43 percent;
Houston (1.8), up 80 percent; and Miami (5.0), up 19 percent.

Sin senos no hay
paraíso
is based on Caracol’s
Colombian telenovela Sin tetas no hay paraiso (Without Breasts There Is No Paradise). The show tells the story of Catalina, a young
woman who agonizes that her figure is a barrier to escaping poverty and
entering a pampered life as a drug-trafficker's lover.

Telemundo's live broadcast
of the Rumbo Al Mundial: Mexico vs. Belize soccer match, which aired last Sunday afternoon, became the
highest-rated afternoon Rumbo
game ever in NTI, according to Nielsen Media Research. The Rumbo Al Mundial:
Mexico vs. Belize
match delivered
1,044,000 adults 18 to 49. Last Sunday's match also ranked as the
fourth-highest Rumbo Al Mundial
afternoon game in the network’s history. Locally, the match ranked number one
in its time period, surpassing all Spanish-language stations in the market in
Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, Dallas and San Francisco among adults
18 to 34, adults 18 to 49, adults 25 to 54, men 18 to 34, men 18 to 49 and men
25 to 54.
