Ted Danson to Join CSI Cast

LOS ANGELES: Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor Ted Danson is to join the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in its 12th season, with his character debuting in the season premiere on September 21 on CBS.

Danson will play a CSI Supervisor who works the graveyard shift and previously headed a crime lab in Portland, Oregon. He joins the cast following the departure of Laurence Fishburne, who was cast after William Petersen decided to exit the series. Danson will still remain a regular on the HBO series Bored to Death.

"You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it’s just words," said Carol Mendelsohn, executive producer. "We’re very excited Ted Danson came along."

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn’t be more perfect," added Don McGill, executive producer. "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he’ll have to bring latex gloves, too."
