Talpa Enters JV for Spanish Market

HILVERSUM: John de Mol’s Talpa Media has set up a co-owned joint venture with Spanish production outfit Boomerang TV Group.

The 50-50 owned JV has the exclusive rights to sell, adapt and produce all Talpa formats in the genres of reality, game shows and scripted. The Talpa catalogue currently includes The Golden Cage, Dating in the Dark, Viper’s Nest, Pretty Smart, Guesstimation, I Love My Country, Divided and Know Your Nation. Talpa has similar deals in place with Shine in France and Warner Horizon in the U.S.

de Mol said of the deal: "Spain is a very interesting market for television and Boomerang is one of the most creative producers in this country. This company is perfect for the kind of programming Talpa develops and will produce our formats very well. After finding Shine as a partner in France, in December last year, and Warner Horizon in the .U.S, last month, this is the third important joint venture deal for Talpa. When it comes to our growth strategy, Talpa is fast moving and very well on track."
