Talks Under Way for Brit Version of Law & Order

LONDON, January 3: NBC Universal is said to be in talks with
ITV for a British version of Law & Order, to be produced by Kudos Film & Television, the company behind the
hits Spooks and Life on
Mars
.

According to the Financial Times, the talks for the tentatively titled Law
& Order London
have been ongoing for
several months. If a deal is clinched, it would result in the first
English-language adaptation of the long-running NBC legal drama. Earlier this
year, NTV in Russia launched its versions of Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. That deal followed an agreement with TF1 for a French
version of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The British version is being eyed for 2009.

Jeff Zucker, the president and CEO of NBC Universal, told
the Financial Times that the proposed
deal would be “the first real step in increasing the international production
of our TV properties.”
