NEW YORK: Syfy.com is to debut its newest original web series, The Mercury Men, early this year, following the successful performance of the digital program Riese: Kingdom Falling.

Riese: Kingdom Falling, narrated by Sanctuary‘s Amanda Tapping, premiered on Syfy.com on October 26. The series generated 1.2 million streams in just two months.

Adding to the digital content slate, The Mercury Men will air in ten parts, each around seven minutes in length. The show is from director Christopher Preksta and is set in Pittsburgh in 1975. It centers on a lowly government office drone who finds himself trapped when the deadly Men of Mercury seize the building as a staging ground for their nefarious plot.

Craig Engler, the senior VP and general manager of Syfy Digital, said: “Mercury Men is a phenomenal project and I think sci-fi fans and Syfy viewers are going to absolutely love it. We’ve been following the series since Chris (Preksta) posted the first trailer online, and we’re thrilled to be able to work with him and host Mercury Men’s worldwide debut on Syfy.com.”
