NEW YORK: In an expansion of its Asian reach, Sundance Channel is now available in Taiwan, with a broadcast license awarded to Rainbow Media by the National Communications Commission (NCC).

The channel is already available in Singapore and South Korea. Sundance Channel, established by Robert Redford, airs a range of films, documentaries and original programs. In the U.S. the service reaches nearly 40 million households.

“We have been very pleased with the steady growth of Sundance Channel outside of the U.S., and believe the channel will satisfy a demand for high-quality, independent-minded programming in Taiwan,” said Ed Palluth, the senior VP of international distribution at Rainbow Media Global. “With WE tv targeting its own powerful audience of viewers, this new license gives us the opportunity to offer two completely unique, successful channel brands to another vibrant region of the world.”
