Sundance Channel Bulks Up Programming

NEW YORK, April 6: Sundance Channel has
taken on ten new series, including eco-focused content for its The Green programming block.

Eco
series include Outrageous Wasters,
which seeks to transform families who are wasteful; Carbon Cops, where Australian scientists Lish Fejer and Sean
Fitzgerald challenge six different families to reduce their carbon emissions by
at least 50 percent; and River Cottage
Treatment
, which features British celebrity chef Hugh
Fearnley-Whittingstall challenging families to live off the land for a week and
get back to basics in cooking. Other series for The Green block include River
Cottage Gone Fishing
, Hugh’s Chicken
Run
and e²: Design 1, Design 2 and Energy.

Also
joining the channel’s lineup is the U.S.
television premiere of the British show The
Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle
, starring Jennifer Saunders and Miranda
Richardson; new seasons of Ladette to
Lady
and Shameless; and a
documentary series about the world’s largest Chinese restaurant, coinciding
with the Olympics in Beijing.

“Part
of our overall programming strategy is debuting a new
series or a new season of a series every month,” said Sundance Channel’s
executive VP and general manager of programming and creative affairs, Laura
Michalchyshyn. “Key to making good on this promise is the acquisition of
fantastic new series from all over the globe especially the U.K., Australia
and Canada.”
