Steady Growth for IPTV Market

SAN
JOSE, November 10: The number of global IPTV subscribers will hit 89.6 million
in 2012, up from 20.4 million this year, according to Multimedia Research Group's
latest IPTV Global Forecast.

Driving
this growth are continued investments on the part of telcos into improving the
quality of service, offering up HD content and delivering exclusive
programming, among other upgrades.

By
region, Europe is expected to be ahead of Asia in 2012, with
a 41.5-percent share of the global IPTV market, followed by Asia with
35.8 percent. North
America will have just a 17-percent share of total worldwide subscribers. It
will, however, lead the market in terms of gross service revenues, raking in
about $13 billion, thanks to a higher ARPU.
