Stand-up Comic Dave Attell Returns to HBO for Solo Special

NEW YORK, November 12:
In December, HBO will premiere Dave Attell: Captain Miserable,
featuring stand-up comic Dave Attell, who returns for his first solo special on
the network in more than a decade.

The one-hour special
will air on Saturday, December 8 at 10 p.m. Taped before a full house at the
historic Lincoln Theater in Washington, D.C., Dave Attell: Captain Miserable features his observations on global warming, pot
smokers, female celebrities, and psychedelic mushrooms, among many other
topics. Dave Attell: Captain
Miserable
was executive produced
by John Irwin, Dave Attell, Dave Becky and Michael Rotenberg. The special was
directed by Beth McCarthy; produced by Allen Kelman; co-produced by Allen
Newman and Damian Sullivan; and written by Dave Attell.

HBO Video will also
release Dave Attell: Captain Miserable on DVD on December 11.

Named one of the “25
Funniest People in America” by Entertainment Weekly, Attell has his own cable series Insomniac with
Dave Attell
. Attell made his HBO
debut on The 1995 Young Comedians Show Hosted by Gary Shandling
and starred in his own HBO Comedy Half-Hour a year later.

Attell’s other credits
include appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, as well as Arrested Development, Ed,
Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn,
the cable special Comedy Central Presents Dave Attell and the feature film Pootie Tang.
