SPTI to Launch SET, AXN Channels in Africa

LONDON, August 23: Sony
Pictures Television International (SPTI) will launch two new channels in Africa
later this year on MultiChoice’s digital pay-TV satellite platform: the general
family entertainment channel Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and the anime
channel Animax.

SET and Animax will be
available on MultiChoice to DStv subscribers for the first time in South
Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho and Zimbabwe. In a
separate agreement with MultiChoice, the Portugal feed of AXN has been extended
to Portuguese-speaking territories Angola and Mozambique in Africa.

The family
entertainment channel SET, available in 54 million households in 34 countries,
is targeted at the 16-to-49 group. The anime channel Animax, available in Asia, Latin America and more recently
in Europe, airs 24 hours a day in 40 million homes across 42 countries and in
14 languages. The channel is primarily targeted at 15-to 29-year-olds. AXN is a general entertainment channel reaching over 100
million households in 16 languages in 50 countries.
