SPTI, Belgacom in Belgian VOD Deal

LONDON, January 10: Sony Pictures Television International
(SPTI) has inked an agreement to provide a range of current and library movie
titles to Belgian telecom operator Belgacom’s on-demand service.

Belgacom TV customers will be able to access current and
library movies from Sony Pictures Entertainment for on-demand viewing on their
TVs through their set-top box. These include Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, the 2006
comedy-drama Stranger than Fiction
and the recently released teen comedy Super Bad. Viewers can also choose from a wide selection of
titles from the Sony Pictures library, such as the classic Easy Rider, starring Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda, and the
Martin Scorsese-directed Taxi Driver,
starring Robert De Niro and Cybill Shepherd, as well as Philadelphia and Charlie’s Angels.

Stuart Baxter, the executive VP of distribution at SPTI, said: “We are pleased to agree [to] this VOD deal with such a strong player in the Belgian market. Working with Belgacom not only allows us to
offer customers the best recent and library feature films but gives us a
platform to launch new services in the future. We continue to gain ground in
building our digital distribution business across Europe and in broadening the
customer base for delivering content into the home.”

Jean-Charles De Keyser, the VP of Belgacom TV, said: “This agreement with SPTI is a further
step in the evolution of Belgacom TV. Thanks to this deal, our 250,000 Belgian
customers will be able to access to the best recent and library titles from
Sony Pictures Entertainment. Belgacom TV continues to extend its VOD catalogue,
which currently includes more than 2,000 items (movies and music concerts) plus
an additional 1,500 TV programs available via the TV on Demand (TVOD) offer.”
