SPT Scores Deals on The Big C

LONDON: The Big C, the comedy starring Laura Linney, has been licensed by Sony Pictures Television into more than 36 countries in Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean, with HBO Latin America set to launch the show January 16.

Produced for Showtime, the acclaimed series has been renewed for a second season in the U.S. “The Big C is a fantastically written and directed show with top quality acting talent in Laura Linney,” said Keith Le Goy, president of international distribution at SPT. “The show uniquely combines drama with comedic handling of a difficult subject. It is genre-bending entertainment at its very best, which we know will resonate strongly with viewers in Latin America.”

The show has also been acquired by Channel 4 in the U.K. Other territories on board include Spain (S.A.U.), Italy (SKY Italia), Greece (Mega TV), Cyprus (Mega TV), Turkey (ComedyMax), Hungary (TV2) and Croatia (Nova TV). The hit series has also been licensed to Hot Vision in Israel and Gulf DTH Productions in Saudi Arabia.
