Spike TV Ups Sharon Levy

NEW YORK: Sharon Levy has been promoted to the post of executive VP of original series and animation at Spike TV, based at the male-skewing cable channel’s Los Angeles office.

Previously senior VP of original series, Levy reports to the channel’s president, Kevin Kay. She will continue to oversee production and development for all of Spike’s original series. The Viacom-owned channel recently ramped up its development slate, announcing pilots for Weapon X, Alternative History and On the Rocks, among others. He expanded remit will see her boosting the network’s slate of  original animation targeted to young men, following the success of its Afro Samurai: Resurrection special.

"We’re thrilled to have Sharon in this key original programming role,” said Kay. “She has been instrumental in bringing top-flight talent to Spike. Her ability to connect with the Spike viewer has resulted in developing many of the network’s top rated series. Now we look forward to develop original animation using her talents for our guy-centric audience.”

Levy joined Spike in 2005 and has overseen the development of many of the network’s most successful series, including Pros vs. Joes, 1000 Ways to Die, MANswers, DEA and MXC.
