Spike Takes Rebroadcast Rights for RHI/NBC Mini-Series

NEW YORK: Spike TV has acquired the off-network rights for the disaster-themed NBC mini-series Meteor and The Storm, produced by RHI Entertainment.

Meteor features two scientists who discover a giant meteor has been knocked out of its orbit and is headed straight toward earth. The two-parter aired earlier this month on NBC. The Storm follows as changeable forces of nature combine—in the air, on land, in the seas—as the world counts down its final hours. The mini-series event is set to air later this month on NBC.

Both films will air in late August on Spike, in anticipation of the new original series Surviving Disaster. Hosted by Navy SEAL Cade Courtley, Surviving Disaster takes viewers through catastrophic scenarios to provide knowledge on how to survive the unthinkable. The Spike TV original series premieres September 1 at 10 p.m.

"These two high-action, dramatic mini-series that will serve as the perfect platform to promote our exciting and informative new series, Surviving Disaster, that might actually save your life," said John Griffin, the VP of programming Spike TV.
