Spike Greenlights New Original Series

NEW YORK, October 17: Spike TV has ordered to series two
projects—Surviving Disaster and Deadliest
Warrior—billed as its most ambitious
shows to date, and has renewed the successful DEA, all for 2009.

Announcing the orders, Sharon Levy, the senior VP of
original series for Spike TV, commented: “Spike TV is taking action-packed
programming to an entirely new level. We're thrilled to be in business with
some of the most talented and successful producers in the industry and bring
this programming to viewers."

Surviving Disaster
teaches viewers about how to survive disasters such as earthquakes, shark
attacks, plane crashes, bioterrorism, hostage crises and tsunamis. Ten
hour-long episodes, hosted by former Navy SEAL Cade Courtley (from Mark Burnett's
Combat Missions) will be produced
by Wall to Wall Media.

Deadliest Warrior
will pit two feared warriors civilization against one another, such as Genghis
Kahn's Mongol Barbarians and Viking warriors, Roman gladiators and Japanese
samurai, using CGI technology and expert analysis. Nine one-hour episodes will
be produced by Morningstar Entertainment, whose credits include Battleground:
The Art of War.

DEA, meanwhile,
returns for a second season on Spike TV with production on nine new episodes beginning
this fall, following a group of agents in their battle against the illegal drug
trade. The premiere season earlier this year averaged 1.2 million viewers.
