Spa of Embarrassing Illnesses Sets Focus on Teens

LONDON, October 30: UKTV
Style has recommissioned Tern TV to produce a fifth season of the hit format Spa of Embarrassing Illnesses, which
this time around will focus on transforming five modern-day teenagers.

Teen Spa of Embarrassing Illnesses will feature host Amanda Hamilton and her team as
they try to transform five teenagers who are suffering from a variety of common
but debilitating illnesses, including extreme acne and binge drinking. The
5×1-hour prime-time series will watch as the group heads to Spain for a week-long detox specially created to treat symptoms of
illness in the mind, body and soul.

UKTV’s director of commissioning,
factual and lifestyle, Jane Rogerson, said, “They should be in the prime of
their lives but British teenagers are some of the unhealthiest in Europe. It's
not just binge drinking and over eating, but a whole range of ailments which
leave them stigmatized and ostracized from everyday life. Teen Spa is an incredible life-changing journey for five courageous
teenagers who face just such a challenge.”

UKTV Style’s channel head, Clare Laycock, added, “Spa is a place where people suffering
from society’s most embarrassing illnesses come to get help. It’s been a hugely
successful format for UKTV Style and has had a truly transformational effect on
the contributors we’ve helped over the last four series.”

Teen Spa of Embarrassing Illnesses will premiere on UKTV Style in January 2009.
