Sony-Discovery-IMAX 3D JV Bolsters Lineup

CULVER CITY: Six new titles have been added to the programming slate of the soon-to-launch 3D network from Sony Corporation, Discovery Communications and IMAX Corporation.

Produced in native 3D, the series are both originals and acquired fare. In the way of originals, Bullproof delves into the daredevil world of professional bull riding. High Octane brings viewers into the world of motocross, jet skiing, rock-climbing, bungee jumping and other extreme action sports. Making the Brand explores how products are produced on a mass scale. There are also series set to make exclusive U.S. premieres on the channel. From Discovery comes Ghost Lab, a one-hour special with the founders of the investigation group Everyday Paranormal. From Sony Pictures comes Open Season, a feature-length animated film with the voices of Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher. From IMAX, Space Station, narrated by Tom Cruise, takes viewers into space, some 220 miles above Earth.

"We continue to move forward aggressively to both create and acquire the most immersive and entertaining 3D programming for television audiences available anywhere," said Tom Cosgrove, the president and CEO of the joint venture. "The broad range of series and programs announced today further underscores our ongoing commitment to providing consumers with the highest quality 3D content across a wide variety of genres."
